Cambridge Front Garden

This tired sloped front yard was in ned of a rehab. The concrete quarter round curb was weathered and cracked and its low profile allowed neighborhood dogs to take advantage of the suffering front lawn. Replacing the curbing with a beautiful stacked fieldstone wall both added both beauty and a friendly barrier to the gardens. Patchy lawn grass was replaced with a dense lush perennial garden. Some foundation shrubs were saved, either pruned or transplanted. Existing old cobblestones were repurposed as stepping stones allowing one to move through the garden without trampling when doing maintenance. These savings allowed homeowners to budget in a simple irrigation system. The thin strip of garden along the driveway, dry and sandy, welcomed an artful stone collection as well as a variety of sedum.
